The Godhead

The Godhead:  The facts the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit

There is nothing more fun or exhilarating than spending time in the presence of the Godhead.  For those of you who don’t know, the Godhead consists of: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each with His very own unique personality.

The Father

The Father is quite fun; laughs a lot and enjoys humor and cracking jokes.  He has the greatest sense of humor ever and does not need to tell racial or crass jokes to be funny.  Often, he is referred to as the “Happy God” who loves very deeply.  Despite this sounding like a personals ad it is a true depiction of who He is.  Since He has all power He worries for nothing.  Before a nightmare happens in our lives he knows how to turn it around for our good; no matter how painful it may have been.  There is nothing that causes Him to lose His cool.  You can hurt His feelings, just like you can any father, but He looks at that behavior and says, “well, there’s another area that needs fixing” before long you see a different you in the mirror.

What God, the Father, Loves

His greatest joy is spending time with the children who want to come to Him and want to get to know Him.  He loves to teach and show his children how to survive in this not so great world.  As with any father, He gets great joy in teaching his children how to walk, run and grow in this most challenging world we have all inherited.

Coming to God for Guidance

The Father is also very big on honesty.  When we go to Him, He wants 100 percent honesty.  Remember, the only person who can read the intents of your Heart is the Godhead.  He is NOT the one; if you’re playing games.  Don’t do that!  He does not laugh or find it funny and NO; He does not see things the way you do.

Earning Brownie Points With God

If you want to strike major brownie points with Him during the process of a conversation be very clear about what your role in the situation was.  It is better for you to be honest and wrong with Him than it is to go to Him defending your actions because He will turn a deaf ear or call you a fool.  God calling you a fool is NO laughing matter!  If you are incorrect in your assessment of your actions He will happily tell you what your part truly was in the circumstance.  This always succeeds in giving you a clearer understanding of where you’re at in your development and how to proceed forward.

Yahweh, the disciplinarian

Now, He is also a disciplinarian.  He will not “spare the rod” from His children or those He is calling.  For those who only need the words it is usually enough to put them on the right path.  They apologize not intending to cause any problems and go on with their life.  Then there are those He tells and they don’t listen.  At that point, He lets you go and you eventually come back crying “Why did you let this happen?”  (So funny…)  He didn’t.  You walked into this road.  The way to see this is very simple.  In our world we tell the baby “Don’t touch, hot.”  Baby doesn’t listen and as soon as we turn our back there goes the little hand.  Now they are more apt to listen the next time you tell them something is hot.

The God who is a mean dictator is not a true depiction of Him AT ALL.

Jesus the Christ

Jesus is very cool.  He is so mellow and quite pensive.  You won’t find Him speaking a lot but when He does His words will hit super hard.  It would be like hitting a 1500 foot home run out of the baseball park.  Each word He mutters has that kind of punch to it.  It is not uncommon to find Him deep in thought contemplating any number of things but He won’t share His thoughts with you unless you ask.  When you ask, make sure you want the answer.

The Holy Spirit

Ruach, or The Holy Spirit, is a very different bird (not a literal bird), so much so He warrants His own paragraphs.

Ruach’s Characteristics

Knowing this man is impossible unless you know Jesus.  He

  • does not have a jokey joke sense of humor.
  • is quite serious and doesn’t waste His time with people who are not serious about eternity.
  • the member of the Godhead that can bring you to salvation and
  • the one member who can keep you out of salvation too.

Understanding Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is so serious a crime, you are not allowed to know Him until your footing with Jesus is firm.  To blaspheme Him is to lose every chance at redemption you can ever have.  Fret not, God took care of this too.  This is why you don’t get to know Him right away.  Ironically, once you do know Him, REALLY know Him, it is impossible to do.  You will find you are quite protective of Him.  The Spirit is the power behind the Father.  He is the one who carries out the decisions the three make.

The Holy Spirit is the warmth you feel when your heart is breaking and you’re feeling as though no one in the world loves you.

What the Spirit does for us

God’s Spirit is responsible for many actions in our lives.  He:

  • holds our hand when we are scared.
  • envelops us when danger is near and keeps evil away.
  • wipes away your tears when you feel like the world is crashing down around you.
  • is one person you don’t have to ask to be there.
  • shows up when you least expect it.
  • brings an intimacy you have NEVER experienced with a person on earth.
  • makes you feel safe and secure.
  • empowers you to achieve everything you set out to accomplish.
  • is a comforter.

Once you have known HIS love you will NEVER again wonder what it feels like to be loved.  His love brings such truth with it, one is rarely blinded by lies again.  I say rarely because when we get caught in what we want and lose sight of who He is; that is the moment when we get in our own way.

The next three blogs will go further in depth as to who each member of the Godhead is.  We won’t just look at a summary of them we will look at everything about them.  See you later gator!
